Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Nicecrane Bird Blossoms, Oriental Quilting card + WOYWW

Add caption
Hullo everyone .. yes another middle of the week has whooshed into view! It seems to have come extra fast this week cos extra busy... for the uninitiated Wednesday means WOYWW ~ or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, over at world wide desk hostess Julia’s blog - here!
Well this desk shows evidence of trip to the big smoke . alias Sydney for the doctor on Monday flight down and back in one day (with awesome test results, so praising God for that!!). Amongst tests and appointments managed to literally squeeze in bit of shopping at two craft stores in the city. The washi paper + Mizuhiki cord were a great find, but rather expensive sadly so restraint was the order of the day.. under the 3 sheets of washi are quite a few sheets of shimmery card 12 x 12" , yum! + not so expensive so heaps more... some stamps at reasonable prices too. At left back are two cards supposed to be mailed today.. shown below.
Desks below show the making of the Oriental card.. a type of Quilting with washi. You can see my mobile opened at my Pinterest to copy the card. A fan pattern made with a scalloped Spellbinder circle cut in chipboard card. Cut some thin foam to fit also, see below.

I should have cut the washi a bit bigger but made it fit, although not good all the way around.. was not going to cut it again and waste it.
Inked up embossing folder (Sizzix - Retro Circles) in gold with snippets of red and black. Centre panel is basket weave stamped in gold embossing powder on gold card, used washi paper on the die cut of scalloped circle section of chipboard (as shown above). Kanji is chop from Artneko.
Had real fun making this card I was given ages ago this set by Ignacio of Nicecrane designs cant find the link cos the site is down for maintenance but it called Birds and Blossoms set so check it out when they are back online. I added a Bible verse from Word Art Wednesday on it. They are meant to be used for calling cards etc but I tried three with a Bible verse inserted in a Word text box - loved how it worked! :D I spritzed Perfect Pearl on the image, the snippetty backing card is Blossoms folder and the white card is a CB Caramello left over from making the third of these cards here. The side peach ribbon is adorned by edging die from Nellie Snellen "Ribbons" die. For Betsy's friend, an encourager of this blog, but doesn't make cards so offered to make one for her, she has cancer.
Late afternoon clear lights of  winter down at my spot... wonderful wonders of Gods creation!!!
I will comment as able but time online needs be limited, I will do my best. However I really want to thank you so very much for popping over for a peek and chat. May God bless your day wherever you maybe.

I have only ever seen washi paper in small 6 x 6 packs, so to see a glorious 12" sheet really was a lovely surprise - it really is beautiful stuff. So So glad that your trip to Sydney was so positive, keep it up!

Hi Shaz, lovely black, red and gold card. Glad your Sydney trip was positive. Would love to know which shops you visited. I had planned to meet my sister in the city on Monday but she's not well so we've had to put our outing off. Glad you like my knitting. Are you cold enough to need beanies where you are?

Oooh, that paper is to drool over but I'll keep my lips together... it might get wet ;) And what a beautiful photo at the end of your post - it's summer at the beach in my part of the world, red-burned tourists all over the place... can't wait 'till the seashore will be quiet and 'mine' again. Happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #56

Hi Shaz, love the card, and how you made it. Brilliant idea to use a scalloped circle, I shall try to remember that. I probably won't though, lol.I shall be pinning it for inspiration, maybe that will help. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #17 xxx

It sounds odd to me that you had to fly to a doctors appointment.... It takes me about 5 minutes to walk to mine and about a 20 minute drive to the hospital. That the difference with Australia the distances are so huge. At least you made the most of it and did some shopping while you were there

Congratulations on the results of your tests, Shaz, and well done rewarding yourself with such gorgeous stash! Those papers are simply fabulous... The cards you have made are so beautiful, and your photo of that particular little corner of God's wonderful creation is a stunner.

Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment. I am feeling much more myself now, and trying to catch up with everything that got neglected for so long. Glad you like my latest Zentangle efforts. Some of my video clips are OK but those for the second card are a disaster lol!! I'll do better next time I hope!

Sorry to miss WOYWW this week.

Hi Sharon, What wonderful news, and I'm so happy that your medical visit yielded good news. Loved your post, and that stunning 'quilted' card. It's just magnificent with the colors, the design, the way you've done the tape & inked embossing. Thanks for reminding me about the NCrane - I think I have that set of digi-s. Last time I checked, the site was still down, but I'll pop over again. Ignaccio has some lovely art and is so generous with his help too. He designed my blog banner. I love it! Hope you continue to feel well in health and give yourself lots of TLC as you need it. Blogging is a hobby. Should be fun! We all get behind (at least I do...often & frequently too!) LOL. TFS & Hugs

Hi Shaz, apologies for taking so long to visit this week - I'm working on something at the moment that is taking up huge amounts of my time. Your desk was covered in interesting goodies this week and great to read of the good news that your test results were fine. Both your cards are fabulous - that fan is gorgeous.

In your last comment you asked if I am Scottish. Well, it's complicated! I was born in England to Scottish parents - my father was in the army - but they returned to the Scotland when I was 5 years old. I was educated in Edinburgh but left again when I was 18 when I enlisted in the army. After many years living elsewhere I returned 12 years ago. So, despite being known as 'the English girl' for many years, I consider myself Scots, though with a foot over the border in England - oh, and I have a Scots accent picked up from living in Edinburgh :) I said it was complicated :)
