Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

WOYWW 333, et al.

Hi there folks - back after wee break, but still doing catch up, on computer and other things :D
As we are in middle of another week, time for WOYWW Or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday - Julia's blog at the Stamping Ground is home base for WOYWW, over here.
This was my desk a few days back or actually the dining room table :D Ten days ago, was able to go to my second ever craft show (first in 2010). Small by O/S standards, about 8 stalls with our kind of craft (mainly a Quilting show) .. but I was greatly blessed indeed. Any more, would've been too much! Head was spinning as it was. Oh, and you should've seen what I didn't buy :D
Dies ( two on left) on sale + embossing folder $3.95, on "would like" list, as was Inca gold rub, Gilding flakes, Ultra Fine glitter, clear fine glitter paste + wanted to try cosmic shimmer glue. New diamond dust spray, tape x 2, DI pads x 2. "Baby " word die is for card am supposed to be making, in budget if not on sale. Ribbon, lace were bonuses. C
lear stamps (2) made in Sydney by ArtStamps, good price, too. I have set limits on what I pay for items. I also learned lots as they had great demos, however with blogging, we know heaps more that lots of folks there.
Have found going through my images some are unpublished. After blog search, etc don't seem to have been blogged. Only realised after went to show explain about the first ones to a friend as good way of using up soft Prima flowers from stash.
Not great shot of these, taken on my phone, I think and sent off before another was taken.
Used a favourite CB folder Stylised flowers, some Bible verses, one digi the other stamp, Prima flowers and ribbon, pearls etc.
Used SB  Octagon dies for centre stamp by Artneko ( "He Who Obtains has little...He who gathers has much." from book of Proverbs) is embossed. Centre piece is CB Oriental folder inked in black. Used double layer of contrasting ribbon and scored lines on base of card.
Used a rose digi on this.. and don't ask me where from now.. after all file searching, backing up, sorting done in last few days you'd think I know.
SB beaded ovals were also done with clear EP, + SB Fancy labels die used. Verse is a stamp from 1990's from Psalms "He shall give His angels charge over the, to keep thee in all thy ways"
Ah, what a great promise of God's keeping is that?

This is a mystery plant seen in park near my brothers in Brisbane. I am pretty sure it is a native but not sure what. have done google search with no result, if any can help from downunder (or elsewhere) would love to know.
EDIT 9.11.15:
Have had this plant confirmed by ABC Gardening Show as Schotia brachypetala or also known as the Parrot tree.. it is from South Africa. :D
Okay, here is your beach fix, folks .. a lovely isolated beach a bit north of here, pretty to look at but dangerous for swimming because of rips and holes in surf. (Taken on my phone so a soft image)
Well, thanks so much everyone for popping over for peek an chat..

So very, VERY glad... to have our own ShazSilverwolf back on WOYWW - been following her progress from the big surgery, as many others have on  Doug's blog post .. tab at top of sidebar if you want to catch up. ... a BIG Welcome Back, Shaz!!
.. dont worry if you are too tired to comment, just to know you are back is such a blessing.
May God bless your day wherever you maybe!

Bokeh Method with Cards, WOYWW 300+ Snippets Annie's smiles.

Hullo there everyone, well rather weary today after trip yesterday to big smoke - fly down and back in one day, medical but all is well ..
I wanted to post this method below as it is really fun method, and also this week if the 300th WOYWW (What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday) ~ share with the desks of the world! It is held over at Julia's Stamping Ground, and whatta trooper Julia is .. 300 WOYWW's!(well bar one in last year when her gall had the gall to intervene)
Thanks so very much Julia - have learned so much from WOYWW, plus have made so many great friends.
I was actually going to meet up with fellow WOYWW-er yesterday (Thursday) RosA of Emerald city, but pulled out day before, as was too unsure of time element. Planes are easy to miss... :D
Well to my desk a while back. I am trying for the very first time the BOKEH technique (pronounced either /ˈbk/ BOH-kay or /ˈbkə/ BOH-kə, Japanese: [boke]) is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens).
It was the technique of month over at OSA. The best video I found was one just after I did this, by Splitcoasters see here. My page on Pinterest has lots of pins see here
LESSON 1: dont get it too wet or it will dry blotchy like mine.. I used distress inks  on watercolour but worked out afterwards used the wrong side of watercolour paper pad too (slow, very! are some folk :D)
LESSON 2
: think re-inkers would be better as in the video but dont have many of those,
LESSON 3:  when you die cut use a heavier quality piece of acetate as you can get, mine was, as was scrap from a lid, but noticed the video she had trouble with that. The white bubbles are overlapped and are done with chalk ink, it is better really if you dry between, I also did the different sizes it three (odd numbers -> better balance) of larger size then five (or so of next size and more of last size. Would not bother with tiny ones again as you cant get them light and dont like that.
The one completed here has extra large Artneko Kanji stamped on vellum and white embossed http://www.artneko.com/displayItem/A149-0003 Beautiful to stamp!
Video idea for this one is here. Stamp on vellum with Versafine jet back, embossed with clear then coloured with two mauve / lavender Brilliance inks. Stamp is Penny Black Slapstick cling  (40-099 Soft wings), from the playground - thanks Di, some time back :D
Verse is a favourite as folk who come here may know is Copyright 2006, bought on Ebay few years ago - by Stampabilities, GR1114. Still not sure I like this particular style of Bokeh method on this card. This is for Sue, for folks who pray for her, she is in hospital in UK, post chemo.
Last of all for today's Aussie images  .. the pineapple which we saw as a baby here down in the backyard, (and bigger, see here).
Taken the day it is was picked/ fell off 28th of Feb, 2015 - it had nearly fallen off, as fruit and top were so heavy and grew tad crooked.
In Front: the top from previous pineapple picked from plant .. see here
Didn't put ruler down very well but roughly 15cm, or 6"
Just pineapple bottom before cutting up - weight 629grams or 1.38pounds. I will add update when cut - it smells the best have smelt!!
Some snippets here so off to the Snippets Playground, as well as Word Art Wednesday .. Yay! and of course WOYWW - even if two days late! And as it is Friday tis time for Friday Smiles so will pop over to Annie's smiles too as this pineapple truly put a smile on my face .. :D

Every blessing of the LORD everyone where ever you maybe and thanks so much for popping over for peek and chat..

(Mm, am way behind commenting these days so will call back eventually, God willing, however I REALLY appreciate every one who cares enough to comment- thank YOU!)

More Spellbinder Majestic Labels 25

Hullo there everyone,
Just a quick post to share the cards started on my desk last week, as wont be posting this week for WOYWW, have others to share as well so will be posting again sometime towards end of this week. An update for those who were praying for the two cyclones that hit the end of last week, Lam in Northern Territory in fairly isolated area, and also Marcia in Northern Queensland. It has never happened before that two category 5 (highest category) crossed Aust. coast within hours of one another. Marcia caused a lot of damage.. some of which is only now being discovered.
Mercifully most of the rain did not head south and down our way. It amazingly dissipated! We frequently get tropical lows from such cyclones. It was forecast for much flooding up north. It never eventuated, so the LORD was very merciful, answered prayer indeed. We, and north of us, have had goodly falls of rain but not flood worthy.

Steps of how this and cards below were made, are on this post here.. or scroll down, with Spellbinder Majestic Labels 25.
Psalm 91:1 is appropriate at all times "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High shall rest in the shadow of the Almighty."
Psalm 91 is also called the Christians life Insurance Policy if you read it through you will see why :D Stamp is current, or relatively so - Copyright 2006, bought on Ebay few years ago - by Stampabilities, GR1114. Butterfly is Pippi from Memory Box and embossed only, very lightly, the vellum underneath then trimmed around it with hand scissors.
Stamp on this card and one below are by Stampendous from 1994,  so probably not available, I have been stamping for 25 years. This verse Revelation 21:3,4 " God Himself shall be with them... He will wipe away all tears from their eyes" - what a precious hope - it is for a sympathy card, and the other three are for birthdays. The verse, " the LORD bless you and keep you", is from Numbers 6:23,24 and has the reference on it but wouldn't fit so did not include it in stamping. These blue ones were inked with Brilliance inks an so could emboss them too as well as the purple Versafine.
All three together, had already posted the one shown last week to Qld. It was not popped up as high as these layers as it had to go through the post, will be hand delivering these three.
A card for an Oriental Stamp Art (OSA) weekly challenge and it was a layout challenge, I used the SU Sprinkles for the top lot of stamping, various daisy stamps including kanji are from Artneko Spring set 2014/2015. The three strips of a card were left over from the labels 25 cards, so really why made it. Ink was DI Rusty Hinge, and also coloured edges with it and the fine cord.
What a blessing it is... to have hands to craft and crafty goodies to use to encourage or bless others :D
Thanks so much for popping over for peek and chat...
It is really appreciated even if am very slow to reply at times.

WOYWW + Alcohol ink on Mirri Card + QuatreFoil Die

Hullo there everyone.. well, another "desky" share as it is Wednesday again!! and that means the great worldwide Blog-hop around desks of the world for WOYWW or What is On Your workdesk Wednesday.. pop over to our chief's desk for the link up, at Julia's Stamping Ground!
So here is my desk.. okay messy as usual, it has been tidied a tad since then. I seem sometimes to work with items all around me as like things to be handy.. or that is my excuse! and yes, monkeys always live there. At the back right just near monkeys is a lovely butterfly brass stencil - a prize won over at Mrs A's butterfly challenge. So I am chosen again this week to be Guest Designer over at the butterfly challenge which starts at 8am GMT today .. so will be posted very soon (see here). The two cards I did for it are at the very back with butterflies on them, but mostly hidden from view. To the right is the quatrefoil die which I show below too. At front is card working on last night, some alcohol re-inkers to colour some mirri card -> see larger blue sheet behind (used a a scrunched up piece of cling wrap which had been slightly moistened to spread the ink under the plastic and blended the colours). See complete card below. Glue stick is to attach unmounted stamp on ink block.
My latest crafty purchase was quatrefoil die from Papertrey in USA.. first time buying with them. I found they have their own dies at more reasonable prices. I have been wanting the Our Daily Bread Quatrefoil die for ages now .. but it's $US29.95 plus $12.00 post to Oz, so that is about $46 Aussie. Now this one though not as fancy is $US16.95 and $9.95 post cost.. so less $30 Aussie - much more reasonable than ODB by long shot. If you look on this Pinterest page of mine you will see plans for future cards and also see the difference between Papertrey and more detailed ODB die. Here on my desk last night I am making some Christmas card bases... with different papers.
This is card for OSA(Oriental Stamp Art) covering two in one. It's for a Tic Tac Toe Oriental mingle and also the OSA layout challenge. This week is this design, so did them together! The diamonds at top were to be done with 3/4" punch, as dont have one cut them by hand. It is mirri iridescent card inked with alcohol inks and when dry, embossed with Oriental cuttlebug folder. Distressed card to bring out silver shell pattern. Stamps are from Artneko, Woodcut Panda walking and kanji, the bamboo,a bought die cut. The three elements of Tic Tac Toe were Panda, Kanji, and Dragonfly... absentmindedly last night thought it was bamboo for last element, but thankfully this Hero Arts small dragonfly stamp came to the rescue.
As you know from last weeks post it is now spring in Oz... and this the front garden. This  Leptospermum Cardwell is magnificent...similar to NZ teatree bush. Next to it is Superb Grevillea. If you want to see (and hear) some more Aussie birds have two magnificent kingfishers or laughing kookaburras on Annie's Smiles post below. Gods creation is so wonderful!
I want to just quickly welcome a new Wonderful Encourager of this blog.. please pop over to Coleen in Ukraine ... and pray for peace that land, too (read this post for latest.. very concerning http://franksukraine.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/russian-invasion-by-jeff-franks.html).
Thanks so much every one for popping over for a peek and a chat, may God bless your day wherever you may be!  Shaz in Oz.x

Snippetty Christmas Cards in Oriental Quilting style

Hullo there everyone .. well there has been rather a deafening silence from this neck of the woods for the last two weeks. I have been sick for a week foll wed by another week of recuperating and major catch up.. there is nasty lot of bugs doing the rounds downunder this winter, and many are succumbing. I have actually been carding for birthdays and made a couple for challenge but not blogged! So here is my Christmas card offering (by two as required by rules) for Rudolph Day Challenge over at Sarn's - see here.
I did a few weeks back on this post HERE, an Oriental Quilting card.. my first attempt and show how it is done on this post. It was for OSA (a Yahoo group - Oriental Stamp Art) and found a number of samples saved onto my Pinterest Oriental page and have few more going to try.. if you want to check them out, look here.

Step 1: design the outline for cardboard (scrap) mounting.
Step 2: cut out card and also thin foam for quilting (make foam slightly smaller than outline so not squashy).
Step 3: choose washi scraps to fit outline of shapes and cut out, add tape on back of the card, wrap around the shape.
Step 4 If mixed shape attach on back of scrap card to assemble pieces.
Finish card as desired.

I chose two patterns - the simple candle shape .. going to do more of it; and the pieces for Christmas tree. May do more of it too: it is bit trickier, but fun. There is another really nice heart one I like...in two different styles, on my pin board, which I want to try too.
As used lots of snippets linking thse over to Miss's snippets Challenge too.
May God bless your day everyone and thanks so much for all your wonderful encouraging comments, too.

Nicecrane Bird Blossoms, Oriental Quilting card + WOYWW

Add caption
Hullo everyone .. yes another middle of the week has whooshed into view! It seems to have come extra fast this week cos extra busy... for the uninitiated Wednesday means WOYWW ~ or What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday, over at world wide desk hostess Julia’s blog - here!
Well this desk shows evidence of trip to the big smoke . alias Sydney for the doctor on Monday flight down and back in one day (with awesome test results, so praising God for that!!). Amongst tests and appointments managed to literally squeeze in bit of shopping at two craft stores in the city. The washi paper + Mizuhiki cord were a great find, but rather expensive sadly so restraint was the order of the day.. under the 3 sheets of washi are quite a few sheets of shimmery card 12 x 12" , yum! + not so expensive so heaps more... some stamps at reasonable prices too. At left back are two cards supposed to be mailed today.. shown below.
Desks below show the making of the Oriental card.. a type of Quilting with washi. You can see my mobile opened at my Pinterest to copy the card. A fan pattern made with a scalloped Spellbinder circle cut in chipboard card. Cut some thin foam to fit also, see below.

I should have cut the washi a bit bigger but made it fit, although not good all the way around.. was not going to cut it again and waste it.
Inked up embossing folder (Sizzix - Retro Circles) in gold with snippets of red and black. Centre panel is basket weave stamped in gold embossing powder on gold card, used washi paper on the die cut of scalloped circle section of chipboard (as shown above). Kanji is chop from Artneko.
Had real fun making this card I was given ages ago this set by Ignacio of Nicecrane designs cant find the link cos the site is down for maintenance but it called Birds and Blossoms set so check it out when they are back online. I added a Bible verse from Word Art Wednesday on it. They are meant to be used for calling cards etc but I tried three with a Bible verse inserted in a Word text box - loved how it worked! :D I spritzed Perfect Pearl on the image, the snippetty backing card is Blossoms folder and the white card is a CB Caramello left over from making the third of these cards here. The side peach ribbon is adorned by edging die from Nellie Snellen "Ribbons" die. For Betsy's friend, an encourager of this blog, but doesn't make cards so offered to make one for her, she has cancer.
Late afternoon clear lights of  winter down at my spot... wonderful wonders of Gods creation!!!
I will comment as able but time online needs be limited, I will do my best. However I really want to thank you so very much for popping over for a peek and chat. May God bless your day wherever you maybe.

OSA Challenge Cards Sea with White Pen challenge

Over at Oriental Stamp Art group June challenge was to make a card with a sea scene and also for June the challenge was to use white pen.. as the time element was at a premium when for two simple cards..
 Method:
1. cut a frame on large sticky note with spellbinder think this one is labels 25 by Spellbinder.
2.Then used extra re-positional tape to attach it to card and cover up all of card except where you want stamp and colours to go..
3. then stamped stamps (and heat embossed as easier to do white pen then)..
4. then on swirl one used the PanPastels to colour it, but for second one used inks and like it much better. Just used ink daubers mostly with little extra ink on them, had used them on another work so were bit inky.
5. Then added the pen, and removed the masks.
First card is Sea - a stamp from Artneko still current.http://www.artneko.com/displayItem/A127-SET3 Called "The Wave and the moon Bogo" Coloured with sponge daubers and ink, plus lots of white ink for foam etc. Second stamp which is just for the June Challenge was one I thought of when saw this challenge, a Leaf swirl stamp by Chocolate Baroque (UK), Kanji from Artneko too. "Thank you" is a digi made in Word with a Da font download called One Smear - see here http://www.dafont.com/one-smear.font
Also have another card to share... over at my friend Ginny's blog "Maxam Made" she has lots of freebie digis to share and the shells on this card are one of them.
When saw them, I bethought myself of a half done card in my reject or waiting pile - with an Our Daily Bread stamp "the Sea" masked, stamped and coloured with PanPastels month ago now. Had smeared on edge of plain white card - so needed to trim and mount it.
I printed two small copies of the shells, then 3'd then but as only two layers not sure if this is 3d? :D
I made the Bible verse digi with a Dafont script (BD Renaissance) - see previous post below on how to install them onto Word .. its so much fun! The CB folder is swirls, with fancy labels by SB. I will paste it below but not sure if is is downloaded as it is just in m Word programme, not sure how to convert them to a png file.

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared
for them that love Him.
1 Corinthians 2:9b

What a privilege we have in our wonderful God! Let us all come to Him for our strength for the day and as our Guide for the way..

Every blessing, thanks so very much for popping over for a peek and chat and may god bless your day wherever you may be!

QUOTE OFF Lunch Lady Jan's Fabric Frenzy blog.. see HERE!
 Hullo there everyone..

Welcome to some new friends, to Antoinette, Angela Radford, Gran Margaret, and Louise Ellen. I cant link over to last one, have trouble doing it - is why have not done it for ages -  so sorry. I am sure links are there, but often not straight forward with Google+ etc. - if you kindly join this blog please let me know so can link over.. ta!
First of all to my desk for WOYWW or What is on Your Workdesk Wednesday, at Julia of the Stamping Ground - do pop over, learn from all around the world!
Left to right: Seagull image ready stamped + watercoloured for card, then in CENTRE is Garfield card made for my nephew a Garfield fan.. See his other cards here . This year decided to do random strips at an angle of orange and black for mounting the comic strip on - saved from Garfield's own birthday which happens last same time each year as Michael's. (have two atc's not shown, sorry! must try and remember for next week forgot to photograph them, from Neet and Margaret - thank you!)
Gift from neighbour, an unwanted CD shelf, now storing stamps and inkpads, all coded and labelled.. Nice!
Finished Garfield card...Stamp HB is SU one + banner die, also with two embossing folders, "Happy Birthday" in blue + orange and black, it kind of looks like tyre tracks is Chevron EF, received as a RAK from our extra generous Maureen, aka Scrappy Mo! thanks dear friend.
This card is for Oriental Garden Mingle with Oriental Stamp Art Yahoo Group.
I embossed the beautifully etched stamp {http://www.artneko.com/displayItem/A149-0007 A1490007 - Extra Large Cranes flying over Water} **(see tip below) unmounted (NBUS) rubber stamp by Artneko first with black ink with embossing powder. Then water coloured it with Distress inks. Cut it out and mounted on embossing stencil Butterflies. It is an embossing stencil (did it on CB with rubber mat). Hand cut it out (Butterflies by Marianne Design NBUS) after I had inked up with Opalite "Glacier blue". Mounted on Washi (NBUS) paper and blue card, tried to match the paper colours in water colouring of stamp.
Over at Darnell's playhouse, she's hosting a brand new NBUS challenge. As used NBUS, three lots in fact, am going to enter this card in it.. for those who dont know Darnell's blog NBUS stands for "Never Before Used Schtuff" to encourage us to use up our stash! you have till June 27th to join in! NBUS Challenge #1"Anything Goes" Friendship Theme (card for Mingle for OSA friend so should qualify)
Well, thanks so much everyone for popping over for peek an chat.. will return visit as soon as able... am bit better :D thanks for those who popped over last week...
and may God bless your day wherever you maybe!
Shaz in Oz.x
**(tip from Annette of Artneko) and I find it works a treat:Too many unmounted stamps and not enough Ez mount to mount them?? Use a glue stick on back of plain trimmed rubber stamp, and glue it to an acrylic block (or to a taped down lid of stamp pad if you dont have an acrylic block) and stamp on a firm foam mat .. instant success! so no more Ez mount for me! yesss more money for stash!
.. then write name of stamp on back of rubber and put them in file for ready identifying and ready access after I stamp them in my folder of "What Stamp Is That?" (see here for this, must say it is a fav. tool now!).

"Adding a Pinterest Blog Button" Oriental Stamp Art Challenge + Annie's Smiles

Hullo there everyone .. well this post has three purposes. Firstly to share the OSA or Oriental Stamp Art challenge for this week, and secondly want to share how to add a Pinterest Button to your blog.
First to share the desk which was going to share on Wednesday but things intervened.. it is inky as I said. Over here at OSA challenge there was a card for inspiration.
As looked at shimmer sheet card background I thought of the sunburst to get the effect and as some of you know I have had one of my only Big and Juicy ("Hydrangea") pads out so used it for good contrast first inked in one colour the background base colour then laid over top the contrast in ray pattern by rubbing ink dauber around in the circular pattern. Sprayed with shimmer mist Diamond dust. The stamps and embossing on the central image is Artneko Front facing cats with spring Kanji, on snippet of green coloured with green end of Big and juicy pad cut with Couture creations nesting rectangle.
The Pinterest button has been on my blog ever since I read about it on my friend's blog Jocelyn of Instead of Ironing Blogspot - over here. This week was asked how it was done. As I had been meaning to share for a while, promised to do it this week.
I love Pinterest and it really annoys me on there when you find a card but it does not have the correct source for that card!! This button helps you to link to card itself. Jocelyn's post also tells you how to use a Google program to search the origin of an image, (Reverse Image Search) as well if you want to know as well... very helpful.
Here is the direct link to the blog which tells you how to do add Pinterest button.. just a word of warning - it does fiddle with the registry of your blog - so if that scares you, maybe get some help.
I just did a back up of layout on Blogger (see here), prayed for help and it was fine .. triple check each move, as can be tad overwhelming if not your thing. Not my thing - first time ever done it but it was good. Before you start though think where you want your button to go on pictures as it went to default and did not like it on top right edge where it was put.
I prefer it in the middle as does not interfere with scrolling on either side, so had to go back in and change it.
I also wanted to quickly link over to Annie's smiles.. so if you want some smiles in your day, please pop over to see other posts... some "bloggy" hugs everyone!

I will comment as able but time online needs be limited, I will do my best. However I really want to thank you so very much for popping over for a peek and chat. May God bless your day wherever you maybe.
