Hullo there everyone.. well here is the other card which was on my desk earlier this week.
Hullo there everyone.. well here is the other card which was on my desk earlier this week.
I saw the lovely cards - so very many of them by Vika on her blog over HERE- and thought I could do that with some of my cards from Christmas!!
So this week, I set off doing just that with this one below!
So this week, I set off doing just that with this one below!
The original front of the card so glittery and lovely had use it! |
Working out which die cuts to use on faithful Cuttlebug. |
...added embossing - and then working out the layout for i | t!! |
Here is the final card with all the extra elements on it...
The highlighting of the Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder was not going to be that colour. My ink pad had some of the blue/purple on it from rubbing chalk pad around the edge of the scalloped Spellbinder, Spellbinders Beaded Ovals, to make embossed bits stand out.
When rubbed the same pad on white card came out the same lovely shade, so carried on over it. Used the Spellbinder snowflakes die and cut the smaller snowflake out of glitter paper to match the glitter on card piece.
This is second entry, this week, for Di's Snippets challenge (and Di had a similar idea on one of her cards this week too!) and Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge.
Just going to add to all folk who think I am mad for making Christmas cards at this time of year, if you go over my blog, I do it all year around... no fixed seasons here ...
After all for Christmas, the spirit of the season and the One Whose birth we remember, is with us all year around! and I am for one very, very glad!

Thanks everyone for popping over to peek and have a wee chat - you are so welcome, and may God bless your day wherever you may be!

Good reuse of a lovely topper!
A lovely card to start with, but what you have done with it makes it absolutely stunning. xx Maggie
Stunning, lovely card.
Hugs Tamara
Perfect spot of recycling there Shaz. xxx
Good to see that you feel the same about Christmas as I do, Shaz - this is a beautiful card - love the way you've layered the circle over the other die (I have that one and haven't thought of doing that) - thanks for entering my CHNC challenge 106 - you could also enter this into my new CHNC challenge extra for January - I'd love to see it there too. X
Beautiful card Shaz, love the recycled topper and embossed background.

Shaz, я благодарна Господу, за то что этим утром Он привел меня в твой блог. Я прочитала много назидательного и интересного для себя в пропущенных мной постах. Так же эти слова : "After all for Christmas, the spirit of the season and the One Whose birth we remember, is with us all year around! and I am for one very, very glad!" - подарили мне улыбку и хорошее настроение! Shaz!

Lovely card.
I find that some of the beautiful cards I get inspire me to use them again in much the same way you did.
Vikas blog showed some gorgeous cards.
I just might have to take a page from your book and make Christmas cards all year long with such great ideas from you girls.
Myrna
You made a superb card out of this one! What a treat to keep it going! Lovely work and very inspirational! At the moment I am already lagging with card making and haven't even thought about Christmas cards again! Keep the inspiration going gal....we need it! Big hugs sis! xxx
What a great job you have made of this I love what you have done here, looks super.
I dare not touch another Christmas card yet as I have so neglected my Birthday cards and I have lots to get up to date with, but I will be doing one for Rudolph Day as I mean to start at the beginning of the year for that challenge instead of July like last year.

What a lovely use of a recycled card. And I found this so inspirational as I got some really pretty 'not-handmade' cards that I've saved and would like to reuse in a pretty way. You really did something wonderful with this one, and your blue-(or blue violet?) finished effect was so perfect for a brrrr card. TFS a beauty & also a great idea. Hope healing is still improving every day. Hugs
Shaz, what a wonderful idea:) I will have to remember this trick. Your card is stunning and I love the colours, I adore the background embossing.

Hi, so pleased to see someone using the Bug and producing interesting crafting.
Thanks you so much for your comments - if I have helped you in any way its been my pleasure to do so. To know I have friends out in blogland is very comforting when one is feeling a bit down and out of it!
Hope we can keep in touch. ikki x
What a beautiful way to recycle cards! I love the image and how you die cut just a portion of it. Wonderful inspirational snippet- Oh how true- God Bless You!!! Happy New Year!!!
What a wonderful idea! Your card is so beautiful!
Greetings from UK Shaz - thank you for your lovely comment on my card - I love how you have recycled the sparkly Christmas card - great idea and I like the photos of the birds and so on, most interesting. It's freezing cold here and snow is forecast for Sunday on the North East coast of England. Mary G x
I love this, what an awesome way to repurpose those store bought Christmas cards!! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
Wow. What a difference a day makes. Your transformation of the shop card is superb. Like it much better than the original. Hugs Mrs A.
what a fab idea and what a gorgeous card! the layout is stunning. I might make some Christmas cards through the year too - definitely a good idea. xx
Ah ha!! All becomes clear! This is a very clever idea. I've kept all my Christmas cards this year (that's the hoarder in me:) and now I have a good reason for having done so. This turns a plain shop bought card into something really special. You clever lady! Hugs, Jenny x
That was a gorgeous card and so great to see it repurposed so wonderfully. Hugs, Amanda x.
Ahhh! What an absolutely gorgeous card! I'm afraid that cards are not within my talent or skill but I can surely appreciate someone who does have that talent-you in particular. It is a work of art.
Blessings,
Betsy

What a great idea and a beautiful card - a little more elegant than the original I think! I will have to take a leaf out of your book and do a few more Christmas cards during the year. I don't normally start them until November! Amazingly I have about 6 left over and have my snowy cottages to add to them, so I won't be starting from scratch.
Fab card - great image and love the embossed background.

Beautiful card. Thanks for joining us as Divas this time.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my Snowy Cottage card. Sadly, we did not get our visit to the grandchildren yesterday, the snowy weather beat us, so Christmas is still on hold. I don't want to wish my life away, but I shall be glad to get some good weather for a change. Hope you are not too hot over there at the moment. Have a good week. xx Maggie
Gorgeous cards as one expects from the lovely Shaz.

Like what you did with the card Sharon, very pretty. I should do something like that but afraid all mine went in the recycle bin, except the handmade ones of course.
Have a good week and thanks for your visit earlier.

Neat reuse of a store bought card! Yours turned out gorgeous! Happy WOYWW! Nan 113
Super card, glad to see others using old cards as their toppers, you made a great job of this transformation. Happy WOYWW BJ#55
A good idea to make Christmas cards from old cards. I like what you have done with this one. I think i too will be joining you. I only make 2 main designs each year doing away with the fear of me sending the same card to someone twice. Looking forward to see what you will be doing with your other cards.
Regards.
Nelle xx
What a great Idea, wouldn't it be funny if you returned the card the following year to the person whom sent it. I wonder if they would notice or not?
Happy WOYWW
Eliza
Absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing. Happy 'belated' WOYWW. Caro #63
Bit late getting back to my WOYWW visitors I'm afraid ... kept busy with those icing flowers (all now wired up into sprays and ready to go on the cake!) Just love how you made that new topper and recycled your Christmas cards ... and I love the embossed background! Love Debbie #48 xXx
Gorgeous card, and a true inspiration to use old cards! Thanks for joining us at CHNC. Hugs Fiona x
