Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Our Daily Bread Christmas Challenge ~ sort of!

Hullo everyone ... yes - surprise!!!! am back again!
Now in my typical manner I made these cards, then the two week challenge (think that would be long enough!?) expired few hours ago but going to post them anyway - if the storm outside doesn't beat me :D
It is summer here in Oz and really loving it... not too hot where I live, cos we are near the sea.
To the card, or actually cards:
This card came to me one sleepless night! Love the elements, these have to be some of my favourite quality crafty items. Folder is Marianne Designable DS0908, poinsettia die is by Britannia and has great detail, I wish all dies were this good! The stamp is Our daily Bread Christmas Blessings set, and I gold-embossed the edges of card + where designable shows through, (it is very hard to get matt gold cardstock here and did not want to over-use what I have, also it then matched the stamp embossing. It is Ranger ultra fine BTW and it really great colour wise) added some pearls and ribbon left over bits.
As you can see really made three, if you have everything out for it and it is Christmas cards you might as well multiply. The first one is the bottom one here. I made two mistakes on it:
1. I stamped upside down (did not read my inked TOP on stamp through clear mount, der!) 2. It was not inked on "S" of " "Sending love and prayers" so had to hide that with poinsettia. :D
Thanks for popping over everyone for peek and chat.. sorry, I will comment as time permits :D but really appreciate your thoughtfulness to comment.
May God bless your day wherever you may be.

PS have heaps of cards to share but dont have time to blog them at the moment..

Our Daily Bead Design ~ Sponging or Stencils

Over at  Our Daily Bead Design the challenge for Sponging or Stencils is on, so here is an entry in for this week. I had to make a card for a friend who has just had very major surgery in Sydney and so decided to use this verse from ODB. Had this white rose 3Ded but not carded for while so it came in handy too. I pray much for my friend, Gail, that the LORD will bless her with His healing and merciful Hand. The LORD is indeed "our Strength and Song".. "For without Him we can do nothing"!
Marianne die for the frame with ODB stamp and sponged around the die before trimming it and remounting it again for strength, adding the 3D rose. The folder is Swirls by Embossaliscious, extra large one which I cut down cause I loved it so much. I sponged the ink all over it to highlights and at side too. The curved border die is by Spellbinder, favourite Lala Land Filigree corners.
Things very busy this weekend and into next week so will return comments as able.
May God bless your day everyone and thanks so much for all your wonderful encouraging comments, too.

Butterfly Challenge + Sarns Christmas challenge

Hullo everyone .. just a very quick post to put up some cards made.
First one is for Mrs A.'s Butterfly challenge this fortnight we need to have three elements in a row through centre on our card. So I have chosen the middle one - Wet embossing, Butterflies and Flowers.
This first card is part of background inked up on Friday (see here for how it was made) for the OSA challenge there was a card for inspiration, this card fits criteria there too.
The stamps are by Artneko from the Spring set, inked in Versafine with iridescent embossing powder. Mounted on black embossed snippet inked up some snippet of card to cut out two butterflies with matching Big and juicy hydrangea ink pad.
Next lot of cards are for Sarn's Christmas Challenge called Rudolph day, over here! requirement is there must be two of them so here are my offering this month, I am bit behind so did extra!
Embossing and cuttting folder is by Marianne dies, used up snippets of card with holly from Joanna Sheen Signature die. Finally used up two of the "Joy" on my desk for months now !! (three more to go :D) Second ones the stamp is from Our Daily Bread heat embossed with red embossing powder.
I will comment as able but time online needs be limited, I will do my best. However I really want to thank you so very much for popping over for a peek and chat. May God bless your day wherever you maybe.

Spellbinder Borderabilities Dies ~ Curved + WOYWW with Snippets!

Hullo there everyone. Yes! today = WOYWW yet again.. and yes, look how few days till the 25th! However have made all my cards and very glad of that, and started writing on the card list :D
For the uninitiated WOYWW ~ What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday DO pop over at Julia's blog HERE....  Today's desk is showing a new Spellbinder Borderabilities Curved die. Had to make some cards for gift, so here I'm playing!! Have had this digi beautiful paper printed but unused for about 2 or 3 years - sad! (by Donna of Bearly My Designs) but used them both up now!
The verses are ones printed out for free from WORD ART Wednesday - See freebies over at Karen's blog here! use top tabs to chose just printables.
Just love this wonderfully, encouraging verse from Isaiah 40 31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Here is the finished card... used Spellbinder fancy ovals, and few pearls.
Snippets card for a quickies (see here) used Marianne butterfly dies and K Kingdom folder. the green paper was actually off back of envelope but too nice to throw away!!
This card annoys me a tad as did not have enough time! Only remembered to do it few hours before needing to post it; had interruptions as well. Ah well, I do hope they like it even if I can see two things which really annoy me! I really wanted to make it special as it had to go all the way to Zambia. Spellbinder hearts, Cuttlebug "Love" EF, Cuttlebug Vintage comers, and Martha Stewart Layered arches punch at bottom - all snippets.
The pickies from Oz today -

This is a commonly called a Scribbly Gum ( see small pickie below and you will see why! a small insect burrows underneath and it looks like scribbles, but does not really harm it).
You can see how tall it is it by the lady in blue on middle far right of picture. This one is in our Botanic Gardens and on quite lean! the one behind it is one also. I really love them.

Thanks so much everyone for popping over for a peek and chat, and may God bless your day wherever you may be,

How glue on a ink pad? + 3D Vellum card + Nativity with Pan Pastels

Hullo there everyone!
Well, what a shock it is that we are starting another week again, and the last one in November and we all know what that means!!! Ah, might as well make the best of it. :D
Here is my first snippety card for Di's Snippets challenge, and it was a "make in a hurry" card. Needed a "cheer-you-up" card for a friend recently diagnosed with cancer. She still is not very well, but praying she will feel the strength of LORD through those praying for her in the rough treatment. It  is a lovely verse, from Word Art Wednesday :
"In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence and His children shall find a place of refuge." Proverbs 14:26.
The flower in 3D was one done aged ago and sitting on my desk waiting for use, and the verse was likewise. So the two came together to make this card, with Vellum on the frame - frame is a combo made with Marianne die, Labels four of Spellbinders.
Second card is a  Nativity with Pan Pastels background done ages ago and then thought would go well with the Cottage Cutz diecuts which Victoria of Furry Crafts kindly sent me earlier in the year for more see here The frame was made but mounting on black and converting a Spellbinder Fleur de Lis Square die into corners, see post here.
Last thing for day is just in case folk don’t know!
I had found a couple of my favourite SU Ink Spots were without sticky on back.  So thought and prayed as to what could glue them on? As this was pigment ink and very moist not like dye ink at all, it was trickier than most. So thought of best “sticker” I know as far as crafting goes and used some Dimensional Magic by Ranger and it works a treat!! Stuck these on a some months back and still going strong I really like it as it does not clog like glossy accent either.
Well in haste so must close. I thank  you so much for taking the time to pop over for a peek and chat; and I pray the LORD may bless your day wherever you may be, Shaz in Oz.x

Eva's card ~ Versamark With Chalks + Snippety card

Hullo there everyone!
Here is a card made for a friend some time back now... my friend had just received the diagnosis for her thyroid cancer and was not good stage - however with prayer, and faith in our merciful God, we are very hopeful for her. She isn't that old, with young family too.
 The verse is:
"My heart and flesh faileth BUT God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever."
Amen, what treasure that is!
Martha Stewart deep edger daisy punch and Word Art Wednesday verse, with Marianne rectangle die and the versamark background + Panpastel/ chalk method as shown on this post here - love it!
Memory Box leaf swirl, and flowers from the Ribbon Girl in UK, dont use them often enough mainly because they dont post well but this was hand delivered. Also used a heart hat pin, I always hide the pointy sharp tip end of these well under card, as hate the thought of someone being pricked by them.
This card was all snippets. I had embossed the purple card as test run with new Embossabilities folder ages ago new - and the dies *flowers, *vase and *"hi" were test cut out with my Olivia cuttlebug alphabet set, a few years ago now. Unfortunately as I had to send it quickly, I took the photo at night in hurry. It does not look as pretty mauve in colour of real life. Added pearls to adorn flowers and dot of the "hi".
* I added double-sided tape to all these fine cut items prior to cutting them, to easily attach  and surprisingly was fine although floating around for years in snippety drawer.

Nice and brief today - thanks so much for popping over for a peek and chat..
.. and if you have joined this blog as one of the really Wonderful Encouragers, please pop over to this post here and join in the fun of the blogaversary candy, drawn tomorrow Nov 12th!

Thomas is FOUR! Monkeys say Happy Birthday!!

{Warning - picture heavy post}
Well, sorry for long silence. I have been creating, as needs must, just not up to blogging as well, thanks for your patience. Have card today for a very special member of our family who has just turned four years old!!
It is an easel card - used this tutorial for easel card - see here
Here on this photo am trying to work out what paper/ embossing folder to use as background for the card. Main elements have been done, number four is Tim Holtz Grunge board which was first coloured with distress ink pads two different colours, (trying to get bamboo look) then covered in Dimensional Magic.
Used some monkey DP made up into 3D figures. The top and bottom are border parts on DP.Paper chosen and now final bits of layout for leaf features being tried. Used swirls/ leaves from assorted dies, some Marianne, some Nellie Snellen.
Then had greeting which is mounted on Fleur de Lis labels 8 by Spellbinder, and wanted a neat outline around it for top piece.
It is best to emboss  this first, then mounted on top to get clearer cut out line - see stages.
Photo top left is embossing on Cuttlebug. Photo top right is accenting it with embossing tool, as shown on lower left photo. Then carefully cut around it and any slightly rough edges smooth off with sanding block. Mount on mounting tape.

 The completed card. Added some string and buttons matching the DP (done with the button maker which don't use enough) to hold up the easel. By the bye, Thomas' favourite toy is Monkey, and so he is number four monkey {or maybe Thomas is? :D}
Many thanks for popping over for peek and chat - I really appreciate all your kind words, more than words can say.
[Also special welcome to newest follower Peg Robinson, but I cant find your blog Peg, to encourage you also - so if you have one please let me know.]

Blue + White Card ~ Give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good...

Hullo there everyone..
Well just dropping in with quick post to let you know I am not going to be blogging for wee while. I am not sure how long, possibly a few weeks, Lord knows.
Some folk have been asking so thought should let you know. I still hope to pop by when able, but just very low key.
Some of you may recall I am teaching a class on Thursday the calligraphy course I do. They are years 7/8 at our local church school. While only five teens are doing the course, have found I am very unwell this time around. The spirit is willing, but the body not so.
Rather than give this particular class up, (as told to do by family/ friends), after prayer I am cutting back on everything else. I also have decided (with the LORD) in the long wakeful hours to make it the last time I will teach it to a group - one on one maybe okay.
So spake Job, (in the oldest book in the Bible), he was one who gave up much, but how much more did the  lovely LORD Jesus, Who gave His very life blood for us, and our salvation from sin.
God knows - He understands as no-one else does. His way is perfect. As he says in His word above - "Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good".
He does know best.. and gives grace for the way.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts on the post before this one, dear friends, and most of all for your prayers.
Thanks so very much for popping over for a peek and chat – you do cheer my heart so, may the dear LORD bless you all, Shaz. x
Card is made with a Bible verse stamp unnamed and many years old + Marianne dies corner frames, Spellbinder Fancy labels 3 I think it was.
I would like to enter it in Di’Snippet challenge (Used snippets) and Word Art Wednesday.
{EDIT: I re-did card as "Thinking of you" card and this how it became - verse is from Word Art Wednesday}

Hero Arts Versamark PanPastels + Chalk Background

Hullo there everyone! Well, have had PanPastels, etc for while now but not used them with Versamark method. Had a new stamp from Hero Arts background arrived from voucher purchase (okay, spent double the amount of voucher, so that means three items were half price, right? ;D)
So inked up the Hero Arts "Classic Fabric Design" background stamp to have  play with Versamark on regular card, and started to lay down chalks and pastels, as shown on Lindsay's blog here (I only did background she shows). You build up colours as you go.
Here it is at the very beginning. Used cottonwool balls instead of  foam applicators with Pastels and chalks, as they would take the Versamark off.
Love Cottonwool balls have decided for applying these. Quick, easy, light and soo blendable, and cheap! as you can see decided to make another background, too, in blues. Have frosted Do-craft chalks, so used them with the PP, you can use most mediums with them .. have post on tips with PanPastels here, as found it hard to work things out when first started. Hairspray to set chalks - dust off excess first.

I used for both cards the Marianne Marianne Design Creatables Frames - LR0117. For first, the flower was from Marianne Design Creatables Flowers & Leaves - LR0156, backed with vellum coloured with PP, with  small leaf swirl on both. Joy Crafts Vintage Flourishes butterfly on second card, and coloured with Versamark and PP again. I have never had one of these Joy dies before, but they differ from earlier ones. They have easy release foam embedded on die and just a dream to use. Lace edge is Dienamics crotchet edge.

Here it is close up the verse was from Word Art Wednesday and love it! Used both these cards as Get Well cards for two ladies going through the mill and am sure the promise brought their heart great comfort to be reminded that God is our refuge in trouble:
"In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge." Proverbs 14: 26
Many thanks for popping over for peek, and even more if you stay for a chat. I shall endeavour to  pop over to your place, too. May God bless and keep you in your day, wherever you may be.

I would like to enter these in the following challenges:
1.Dis Schnippet's challenge ~ all Scnippets of cardstock and even verse was schnippetty too :D both cards
2. Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes both cards

3D Christmas Card + Teabag folding

{WOYWW post below this or click here}
Hullo there every one! I wanted to join with Hazelnuts Christmas challenge this week and have another entry for Di's Snippets challenge too, so here we are.
I have made a 3D card which was on my desk and showed you how to cut the die outside the image step by step see below post or look here.
The card was really a 3D image from ages ago and decided to finally make it up. Had this new corner die (from win with 1-2-3 Stitch- Anja Marianne corner die) and had cut this sheet as test from scraps and wanted to use it up. I added a silver frame cut with Spellbinder Petite ovals, and Scallop Petite Ovals with a scrap of silver mirri card, and glued it around the oval cut outside the image.

Here is another snippet used - the tea bags were printed out over twelve months ago and found them on my dining table  thought will use them up too.
This is the the bag used copied out nine times, then cut out and folded. You could right click on it, "save as.." and save it and copy it eight more times, print it up on high resolution and you would be able to make it as well. The medallion die is from Spellbinder and the folder is 5 x 7 Cuttlebug called Kassie's Brocade. I distressed it a bit, added greeting etc.

This magnificent card is not mine, it is an OSA swap Orange/Black, with clever use of wallpaper and paper piecing stamp from Barbara I. of Oriental Stamp Art group, on Yahoo groups. For my entry to this swap see link here where show new background technique - stamping an ink block.

Thanks so much everyone for popping over for peek and chat. May God bless your day wherever you may be,

K Kingdom + Marianne Butterflies ~ Snippet Note + Thank You card...

Hullo there everyone!
I saw on Myrna's blog a while ago now some note cards and that set me off - here are hers which were the inspiration, and were made last month.
I  needed some note cards and thank you cards so they were perfect! Made quite a few thank you cards, plus a birthday card.
They were perfect for using up snippets, with the butterflies and the scallop on greetings, with ribbon to match.
The folder is Leaves and Butterfly K Kingdom folder also used here and brayer with the Marianne dies of the small butterflies.

My first post after cataract surgery on Monday 22nd, so I want to let kind folk who were thinking and praying for me that things are proceeding just as they ought. if I take it slow ans steady :D all goes well.
Still cant read close up well but suspect that wont happen till can go for new glasses four weeks after surgery, so towards end of May. Computer magnifier is a treat!
Thanks so much everyone for popping over for a peek and chat, and may God bless your day wherever you may be,

WOYWW, Snippets, Flora and Fauna in Oz!

(Warning - picture heavy post)
Hullo there again everyone!
Before I go any further I just want to say my thoughts and most of all my prayers are with all who are battling or have suffered in the bushfires still affecting large parts of south eastern Australia. Mercifully we are not affected up here, nor are we quite as hots as others, being blessed by living near the sea. It is not over though so praying for all concerned.
Now to the business end of this post – Wednesday is the highlight of many of our weeks when we go on the biggest blog hop in the world ~ What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday!!
So without any more ado here is my desk - which really is not my desk today, as everything is all put away just at the moment.. cleaning day an' all! yes, it does happen :D
I have made two Christmas cards!
Mm, things are moving on here - thankfully no stitches at the moment, last lot out on Tuesday, and foot graft healing okay too. :D for which I am very thankful. So cards in view, plus items used or rejected, in making them. Taken at night hence dark light.. sorry.
Won't detail both cards today - have much to share (sorry, skip if in hurry but mainly pickies)!
The peel offs on card to the left were on an envelope, to match card. So nice, I just had to reuse them. I did not have gold greeting so painted it gold, and cut out in gold the Marianne Designables; also used here. Unfortunately I must remember not to run it through the bug twice, as once is more than enough.

Here are the rest of my pickies of all the goings on here in the locality, during last two weeks!
These are Black Cockatoos and are eating the Macadamia nut kernel- yep! their beaks get through those hard shells and husks. Needless to say there were none left, as there  would be a dozen birds and sometimes more in the tree at dusk each night. (no, not four an twenty black birds - and none baked in pies, thank you :D)

For more on the Black Yellow tail Cockatoos - click here on this link.
They are simply huge birds.

I showed you the Macadamia tree in flower earlier on this post, SEE here. The remains they leave for us to eat, scattered on grass bit spiky to tread on. The husk is the piece in the photo centre, shells lie on either side.
Peewee nesting, second time this year, near my sister's balcony. They chose a very outside branch of gum, to stop predators from attacking them whilst nesting. This Bloodwood gumtree has a mass of gum-flower buds coming on, it is a yellow flower.

Poinciana, partly in our yard, and we love it, such amazing flowers! it has a Fig bird and Noisy Minor nesting there, but bird above in its beautiful shade is neither, not sure what it is? EDIT: been identified a Butcher Bird as we saw it land under the tree!

Well, that is well and truly enough for today (apologies, Julia, for length of post). If any like to see post below have a card and a Chinese Fishing marker washed up years ago on a local beach, so an oriental theme.
God bless your day everyone wherever you may be and thanks so much for popping over for a peek and chat!

Christmas is a-coming, Crafty individuals + Using Up Scraps!

A big apology to all WOYWWer's - I made mistake in linking over - this is this week's WOYWW post CLICK here -  or see above this one!

Well, hullo everyone!
As said every post for the last few weeks the moments, days, weeks are flying by! It reminds me of a Bible verse in Psalms when I stop and wonder at the speed of it all:
"Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. Ps 90:12"
As I tip tap to write this there are less than 30 days to the day when we remember the birth of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ. So thought I would share a few of this year's unpublished Christmas cards I have made and link them up to various challenges!
Firstly to Sarn's Christmas card challenge - here at Stamping for Pleasure!
This card has Our Daily Bread Christmas greeting, and the wonderful Crafty Individuals Bird Postcard Unmounted stamp which  is masked to cover the postcard stamp on it, used also with these others here  -  here and here!
All are scraps from various times over the year, so entering these in Di's  Snippets challenge as well. These all, to be honest, were sitting around waiting to be completed for an inordinate amount of time.
Coloured image of robin in chalks, and has a strip of red ribbon at the bottom and strip of red bling, the paper is a digi freebie by Glenda Waterworth, of Artylicious called Moroccan Velvet A4RED (must-look link here).
The baubles below were made with scrap from wrapping paper (shown above and more shown on this post - CLICK here ).
These cards are made with the Marianne Design Creatables Fir branch LR0181, the bauble is made with Nestabilities
The embossing folder is Allegro by Cuttlebug, large size.
These two cards have the folder from the Christmas Winter Wonderland set by Cuttlebug in pearlised card, greeting red embossed / bauble plus brads and bling!( for Frosty & Bright Panpastels)

ALLSORTS Challenge - Bring on the Bling!
This card has the candy Cane Cuttlebug folder, and Nellie Snellen Multi frame die - eastern Oval, brad, bling and glitter on edges of layers of ornament.

Challenges I would also like to enter these in:
Allsorts Challenge - Bring on the Bling!!  (and there is plenty, on most cards)
Pan pastels Challenge - Challenge 46 - Frosty and Bright - two cards have the snowflakes folder, Winter Wonderland, and snowflake brads, frostiest is the white one so entering it in this challenge.
ABC Christmas Challenge W is Wrapping - make card with some wrapping paper - all the baubles are!
Crafty Individuals Challenge - Festive Sparkle - Entering CI Robin card with the red bling strip + ribbon in this challenge.
Thanks for taking a peek and chat, and may God bless you wherever you may be,
